This short course is designed for directors working in aged care, childcare, or the disability sector, who wish to understand the evolving landscape of care governance and enhance the wellbeing of those in their care.
Prior governance knowledge is ideal, obtained through the completion of Foundations of Directorship™, Company Directors Course™, or a minimum of five years of director experience.
Upon completion of this course, you will:
- understand the scope of organisational risk in relation to the care of people with vulnerabilities;
- grasp the board’s role in ensuring a safe culture; and
- be able to evaluate the effectiveness of relevant policies and procedures and identify ways the board can monitor compliance.
This is a one-day course delivered face-to-face by an experienced facilitator, with short activities and case studies included to guide discussion. Topics covered include:
the board’s responsibility in improving the quality of life of people with vulnerabilities;
how to adopt a safe organisational culture;
cultural and ethical dimensions contributing to the wellbeing of people with vulnerabilities;
effective policies supporting the governance of care organisations; and
a summary of the recommendations made in the final reports of recent Royal Commissions, including those focusing on child sexual abuse, aged care and disability.
