Peter Wilson AM FAICD

Chair, Australian Disability Network

Peter Wilson AM is Chair of the Power & Water Corporation, which delivers power and water services to 4 towns and 150 remote communities and outstations across the Top End. He is also Chair of the Australian Disability Network (which co-partners the Directing Change & Disability Leadership programs with AICD); ARCA; and the Audit & Risk Committee for the WA Auditor-General. Peter has served on the Boards of two world professional governing bodies (IFAC & WFPMA).

Peter’s leadership on corporate governance reform came into national prominence during 2017, when he became the Chair of CPA Australia, the world’s fourth largest professional accounting organization. His appointment followed the resignation of all former Directors after many governance anomalies became public together with their approval of a $4.5m or 3 year severance payment to the former CEO. During his term as Chair, Peter led the implementation of a comprehensive governance reform program, including approval of a new CPA Constitution by 80% of the membership.

Prior to his Board career Peter served in senior executive roles within the Commonwealth and Victorian Treasuries, and later as a Group Executive at ANZ and Amcor. Peter also served as an Adjunct Professor in Management at the Monash Business School until 2020, and was a PhD supervisor at the Latrobe Business School at the same time. He has chaired the VISES Advisory Council at Victoria University since 2012.

Peter was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2004, and awarded a Centenary Medal in 2023. He was elected as a Life Member of both CPA Australia (2022) and the Australian HR Institute (2021).

Peter has been a Fellow of Company Directors since 1992.
