Narelle is Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Institute of Company Directors member magazine Company Director.
During more than 25 years as a business and finance journalist and editor Narelle has worked for Australia’s leading media groups including the ABC, Fairfax Media and SBS TV. She’s a former Editor of the Australian Financial Review’s BOSS Magazine and was founding co-chair of the Financial Review’s Women of Influence Awards.
Narelle is also a member of the board of the The Ethics Centre. She has held a number of non executive director roles over the past decade, including with the Tasmanian Development Board, the Documentary Australia Foundation and with women's entrepreneurship accelerator SBE Australia, which runs the Springboard Enterprises program.
Since relaunching the magazine in late 2017, Company Director has been recognized with local and global awards including the Business Publication of the Year 2018, Custom Magazine of the Year 2019 and for its powerful design and content. The magazine has won the Publish Awards Cover of the Year twice - for its 2018 cover special We need to talk about the Royal Commission and the 2019 on the boardroom journey of former AFL greats and Go Foundation founders Andrew Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin.
Narelle has had a long commitment to sustainable business leadership models and good governance and in 2015 co-authored New Women New Men New Economy (Federation Press), which shows how inclusive cultures drive innovation and sustainable growth. It was reprinted in 2016.
Narelle grew up in country NSW and was the first in her family to go to university. She studied journalism at Canberra University, has a Masters in Management (Financial Management) from MGSM in Sydney. She was on the steering committee that brought the Global Summit of Women to Sydney in 2018 and is a member of the International Women’s Forum.
