Deena Shiff FAICD

Deena has been a full time Non Executive Director for the last ten years, largely in global, growth stage technology businesses. 

Her current board roles include ProMedicus, an ASX listed radiology software company with operations in Europe and North America including an AI accelerator for advanced medical diagnostics. She is also an Independent board member of the Geneva based Global Fund, GAVI , the vaccine alliance between governments, the private sector, WHO , UNICEF and the World Bank, that funds and procures vaccines for the Global South and administers COVAX. 

Deena chairs the International Advisory Board of the ARC Centre of Excellence on Automated Decisions and Society, based at RMIT. The participating universities examine the consumer impact of AI in sectors such as health, transport , media and social services.   

Between July 2020 and July 2022 , Deena chaired the Australian Broadband Advisory Council , advising the government on digital uptake to accelerate economic and social benefits in sectors with the highest productivity potential but lowest digital adoption. During this period, Expert Working Groups reported on sectors such as health , the construction industry and the creative industries .

Deena’s previous board roles have included : Chair of the Supervisory Board of Berlin based e commerce company, Marley Spoon SE ; Chair of the global board of BAI Communications; director of Appen, which provides humans in the loop to train the AI of the majority of the world’s Big Tech companies; the Citadel Group ; Infrastructure Australia  and Export Finance Australia .

Before her board career, Deena has worked as an in house legal counsel and as a partner at law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques followed by a ten year senior executive career as a Group Managing Director at Telstra. In 2011, Deena established Telstra’s corporate venture capital arm, Telstra Ventures.
