Dr Deborah Netolicky

Principal, Walford Anglican School for Girls

Dr Deborah Netolicky is an educator with more than 20 years of experience teaching and leading in schools in Australia and England. 


Deborah is the Principal of Walford Anglican School for Girls, Adjunct Senior Fellow at the University of Adelaide, member of national and international education committees, and host of The Edu Salon podcast. Deborah holds a PhD in education and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She previously served on the Board of Karrinyup Primary School for five years, as Deputy Chair and Chair. 

Deborah contributes to education conferences, peer-reviewed academic journals, books and media. She is author of Transformational Professional Learning: Making a Difference in Schools, Editor of Future Alternatives for School Leadership: Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Democracy, and co-Editor of Flip the System Australia: What Matters in Education. In 2023 Deborah was awarded the ACEL Hedley Beare Award for Educational Writing by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders and was named on the Educator Australia’s Most Influential Educator list for the second year in a row.

In 2022 she was also named on The Educator Australia’s ‘Hot List’ of innovative educators. Recent awards include the 2021 AERA Educational Change SIG Emerging Scholar Award, 2021 Michael Fullan Emerging Scholar Award and the 2021 ACEL WA Certificate of Excellence in Educational Leadership.
