Melanie Laing is a non-executive director; remuneration, sustainability and people committee chair; and advisor to companies on critical global business issues, strategy and risk variance. She specialises in supporting ASX-listed and private organisations about to enter significant growth or change. Her international career as a c-suite executive within multinational, listed and rapid growth businesses has equipped her with unique experience in helping companies at the forefront of their industry to scale, navigate critical change, and implement asset and risk management strategies.
Melanie is currently a non-executive director with AUB Group (ASX:AUB), a global insurance broking and underwriting group, chairing the people and remuneration committee. She is also a non-executive director of Ridley Corporation (ASX:RIC), one of Australia's leading agricultural companies, chairing the remuneration, nomination and people committee. Prior to this, she was a non-executive director of global, ASX-listed (US-domiciled), education technology provider, Keypath Education International (ASX:KED), chairing the people, remuneration and sustainability committee. Previously, she was also a non-executive director and people, performance and culture committee chair with Inflection Inc, a US-based leader in data-driven background screening. Melanie was group executive of HR at the CBA, Australia's largest ASX-listed company and a leading provider of financial services globally. In that role, Melanie was on the bank's executive and responsible for the strategic planning, transformation and implementation of the bank's global people agenda and HR operations, spanning a local and overseas workforce of 55,000 people. Prior to this, Melanie was global head of people and culture with Origin Energy, a top-20 ASX-listed company. Melanie has also held senior HR leadership roles with Unisys, Vodafone, General Re and Times Mirror, locally and overseas. Melanie is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and the Australian Human Resources Institute (FAHRI), a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW) Australia and certified chair with the Advisory Board Centre. She lives in Sydney, Australia.
