Kulja Coulston joined AICD in September 2023 to lead the Climate Governance Initiative (CGI) Australia Chapter, which the AICD has hosted since 2021. She provides advice and support to the CGI Australia Advisory Council and manages the initiative's strategy and workplan, which includes preparing the monthly Climate in Focus newsletter.

Kulja (pronounced 'karl-ya') has worked as an independent journalist and communications director for over 25 years, focussing on sustainability and energy transitions. She serves as a independent director of the Wetland Revival Public Fund, which supports the revitalisation of ecosystems in the southern Murray Darling Basin. 

Before her current role, Kulja was communications and knowledge Lead at Climateworks Centre, Monash University. She has also held specialist roles at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Mitchell Institute for Health and Education Policy, and Renew.

Kulja is a graduate of the University of Oxford Said Business School Strategic Leadership Programme, and holds qualifications in policy, journalism and information management from ANU Crawford School of Public Policy and RMIT University.
