Ian Hammond FAICD

Chair, Mission Australia

Ian was appointed Chair of Mission Australia’s Board in November 2022, after being a Director of Mission Australia since February 2016. He brings strong leadership and deep experience in strategy execution, corporate governance and financial sustainability.


Ian is passionate about addressing homelessness in Australia, the systemic disadvantages of First Nations Peoples and ensuring Mission Australia’s Founding Purpose remains key to delivering on the charity’s strategy.

Previously at Mission Australia, he held various Non-Executive Director roles including Chair and Director of Mission Australia Housing subsidiaries, and as a member of the Board Audit and Risk Committee and of the Service Impact Committee.

Ian is on the Board of several private and not-for-profit organisations. He is a Non-Executive Director of Suncorp Group Limited, Perpetual Limited and not-for-profit organisation Quiz Worx.

His prior Non-Executive Director roles include Venues NSW which manage NSW Government stadiums, Citibank, and integrated cancer hospital in Sydney, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.

Previously, Ian was a Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers for 26 years and has held a range of senior management positions, including lead partner for several major financial institutions.

Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant and a Graduate Member Institute of Company Directors.
