Karyn Brinkley

Non-Executive Director, Sunshine Coast Arts Foundation

Karyn is an experienced chair and board member of more than 20 years’ standing, and an experienced executive working closely with and reporting to boards in public sector, community, and not-for-profit environments.

She has international governance and executive expertise in strategic development and recovery, crisis and reputation management, community engagement, communications and marketing, structural realignment and organizational culture change. Her governance experience spans the arts, business management, education, facilities and estates and research.

Karyn serves on the Sunshine Coast Arts Foundation board and recently led a strategic board review of that organisation. As chair of internationally-renowned performing company Circa, she oversaw a three-fold expansion in the size of the artistic ensemble and a doubling of the number of countries and audiences Circa performed for. While serving on the Council of the Queensland University of Technology, she chaired the quinquennial review of that university’s Law Faculty.

A higher education colleague describes “building culture, teams and careers” as Karyn’s superpower, and her close interest and success in reviewing, diagnosing, coaching and transforming under-performing teams has been a hallmark of her career.

As Managing Director of Women Leading Women Australia, an executive coaching business, Karyn works with senior executive women to help them successfully navigate career transitions including promotion, realignment, return to the workplace and third-stage planning.
